Smokey's Southern BBQ in Chesterton

Serving sizes are definitely NOT worth the prize. The chicken was so dry I didn't even finish it. The rib tips were tender yes but The "hot" sauce was extremely bland. For a bbq restaurant I was extremely disappointed. Won't be trying this one again.

Never open on there days suppose to be open 11am to 7pm no one there and if your closed due to covid then take your hours out and say your closed cuz I'm tired of driving way out there for you to be closed cuz its 20 min there and back for nothing. good food when open

Great place to stop off and get some great homemade BBQ. DOG FRIENDLY with small patio space. Cute decorations and a signature stone pig to ensure you it's a good spot. Definitely order the combo plate if you're feeling hungry and the potatoes won't disappoint.

Great little place. Bummer that everything is disposable but a cool place, good food, friendly people, CLEAN (whew!). An all-around win!

Got the Chicken Sandwich and was absolutely in love. One of the best meals I've had at a hole in the wall in a long while. Will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend!

Called on the 4th of July for carryout. Everything is homemade and it was wonderful. Wife didn't have to cook and we got plenty of food at a very fair price. Thanks!

Pulled pork is out of this world! Use the Sweet BBQ sauce and get the cole slaw and parsley potatoes. We've been to bbq places in Texas, Missouri, Tennessee...nothing compares. We're absolutely spoiled to have this gem in our backyard. LOVE IT! I only wish they were open during the week...

Food was awesome. The owner and the staff were great. I love this place. Plan to eat there quite a bit in 2019 after I go trail riding at Indiana dunes. very close to Indiana dunes all you Trail riders. You have to check this place out.

Not bad for being close to me. Brisket was good, had more fat on it than I usually like. Easy to remove if course. The pulled pork was very tender just did not have much taste without drenching the BBQ sauce on. Great service. I will be back.

Omg so glad we stopped!Had the brisket and pulled pork.It was so good! Those parsley potatoes are craveable!We were stuffed but grabbed a piece of very berry pie for later. It was so perfect.

The service was good, she was really friendly. The food was ok I had the pull pork sandwich with Coleslaw. The meat had a good flavor but I try their 2 sauce which it was sweet and mild and they didn't have flavor at all I had to put alot of the mild sauce to even taste it on my sandwich. My boyfriend had the jumbo pull pork sandwich and potato salad he said the potato salad was good, the sandwich was ok since he had to mix the mild and sweet bbq sauce and he still couldn't taste the sauce.

The best barbecue I have had. Period! I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans. Delicious!! The lady who was working the place was extremely friendly and let me eat outside with my dog. Make sure to have cash though since it's a cash only restaurant. Give them a try!

You can never go wrong with bbq. Food and sides were steaming hot and you could tell they were fresh! Will be coming back!

I love love love rib tips , I like trying new spots to find the deliciousness! This place is definitely great. The meat was do soft and tender . And the sides delicious! Definitely will be stopping by again when the weather breaks and I find myself enjoying route 12 again .

Really nice. Walls are full of nostalgia and it's fun to sit and read all the different advertisements and pictures. But the real enjoyment comes from the MENU! Oh the food is so good! But be prepared, they only take cash...no other form of payment accepted.By the way, they are so dog 🐕 friendly! You can eat outside with your pooch. They will bring them clean water.

I was raised in Gary so it is hard when we go out but this was good and very good portion :) I had the pulled pork sandwich & parsley potatoes.

The foot was delicious, and the sevice was warming. We'll definitely be back.

Absolutely love the food. However we went there today and it was closed. Not sure if they are reopening. Sad day.

Ribs were dry, hard to cut with a plastic knife. Pulled pork was also dried out and had an unappetizing flavor. Sides were good. No small portions of ribs available. Full slab or nothing. Not much choice of beverages. They were even out of bottled water.Owner never came back to our table.

1st visit. 4/5 because my brisket, though tasty, was on the dry side. But the chicken sandwiches we had were VERY VERY good! Nearby table got a rack of ribs and I can't wait to try them!!! ... and the pulled pork, which has many great reviews. Baked beans were very good, a little different than usual baked beans, but I loved them.
